Budget Discussion Begins in Bagmati Provincial Assembly from Today

The Bagmati Provincial Assembly has commenced discussions on the provincial budget for the upcoming fiscal year from today at 11 AM, following an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties.

According to Provincial Assembly Secretary Ram Kumar Paudel, today’s session will focus on deliberations over the budget presented by the provincial government. The agenda also includes a response from the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Kundan Raj Kafle, followed by time allocation for presenting proposals related to expenditure cuts.

Thursday evening’s assembly session resumed after both the ruling coalition and opposition parties reached a consensus on moving forward with the budget discussion. During that session, Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama (Tamang) and opposition leader Shalikram Jamkattel of the Maoist Parliamentary Party delivered remarks on contemporary political issues.

For the upcoming fiscal year, the Bagmati Province Government has proposed a total budget of Rs. 67.47 billion (Rs. 67,47,73,27,000), focusing on development, infrastructure, and social services.

The discussion is expected to continue over the coming days, with various lawmakers putting forth suggestions and critiques before the budget’s final approval.
