Novak Djokovic delivered a stunning comeback on Centre Court at Wimbledon 2025 on Monday, beating Alex de Minaur to reach the quarterfinals — and he did it in front of a star-studded crowd.
Federer, Kohli, Anushka and cricket legends attend Djokovic’s match
It was a packed house full of sporting royalty. Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer led the celebrity guests, joined by England cricketers Joe Root and James Anderson, and India’s Virat Kohli, who came with his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.

Kohli praises Djokovic’s ‘gladiator’ performance
The Serbian superstar lost the opening set 1-6 and was down 1-4 in the fourth, but managed a heroic turnaround to win five straight games and clinch the match in four sets.
Virat Kohli, clearly inspired by Djokovic’s resilience, took to Instagram calling it “business as usual for the gladiator.” Djokovic responded with a heartfelt repost, writing:
“Thank you for supporting.”

Djokovic eyes records after 100th Wimbledon win
This victory came just two days after Djokovic celebrated his 100th Wimbledon match win, becoming only the third player to reach the milestone after Martina Navratilova and Roger Federer.
Now, he’s aiming for a record 25th Grand Slam title, which would break his tie with Margaret Court, and an eighth Wimbledon men’s title, which would equal Federer’s record. He could also become the oldest Grand Slam champion in the Open Era.
Djokovic reflects on comeback after slow start
“It wasn’t a great start for me, it was a great start for Alex de Minaur obviously,” Djokovic said after the match. “I kind of reset myself in the second set. I was very pleased to hang in tough in the right moments and win this one.”
Sinner survives injury scare, Djokovic to face Cobolli next
Meanwhile, top seed Jannik Sinner also advanced but under unusual circumstances. He was trailing Grigor Dimitrov, who had won the first two sets, before the Bulgarian was forced to retire due to injury.
Sinner will now face No. 10 seed Ben Shelton, who defeated Lorenzo Sonego in four sets to reach his first Wimbledon quarterfinal. Djokovic, on the other hand, will take on 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli, who upset former finalist Marin Cilic in four sets.
The hunt for history continues
Djokovic’s Wimbledon journey is heating up, with the Serb now just three wins away from making tennis history. With legends like Federer watching and fans like Kohli cheering him on, all eyes will be on Centre Court as Djokovic pushes for greatness.
