A member of Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) who was injured during a flood rescue mission in Rasuwa district is now being rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter.
The incident occurred in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-3, Lingling, where Assistant Sub-Inspector Bishal Thapa became trapped on a cliff while responding to flood emergencies triggered by heavy water flow from Tibet.
Injured officer fell into a gorge during mission
Thapa, part of a rescue team from APF Battalion No. 2, reportedly fell into a narrow gorge during the operation and sustained injuries. Following the incident, the Nepal Army dispatched a helicopter to extract him from the remote location.
Due to the lack of a safe landing zone, the helicopter team is attempting an air-rope rescue, where the officer will be lifted using a harness and rope.
Similar rescue carried out earlier
This method had earlier been used on Tuesday to rescue two people who were stranded in a tree above the Trishuli River after being swept by the floodwaters.
Once rescued, Thapa will be transported to the APF Hospital in Balambu for medical treatment, officials confirmed.
