Lee Jun Young Makes Japanese Film Debut in Yoji Yamada’s ‘Tokyo Taxi’

On July 8, Billions announced exciting news: Lee Jun Young will make his first appearance in a Japanese film. He joins the cast of the 91st movie by legendary director Yoji Yamada, titled Tokyo Taxi.

Tokyo Taxi is inspired by the French film Taxi and is set in Tokyo. The story focuses on themes of regret, healing, and special moments near the end of life. The movie features famous Japanese stars like Takuya Kimura, Chieko Baisho, Yu Aoi, and Takaya Sakoda. Lee Jun Young plays an important role in the film, but his casting was kept a secret until after he finished filming all his scenes.

In the movie, Lee Jun Young plays Kim Young Ki, the first love of Sumire, the main character played by Chieko Baisho. He is also expected to share touching scenes with Yu Aoi. Reflecting on the experience, Lee Jun Young said, “Thanks to Director Yamada’s focus on emotions, I could naturally connect with my character. Although the shoot was short, it was very intense.” He added, “It was a great honor to act with such amazing actors in my first Japanese film. I hope viewers feel the warmth of humanity through this movie.”

Tokyo Taxi will be released across Japan on November 21.
