A shocking case of fraud has been uncovered inside a juvenile detention center in Birgunj, Parsa.
Pramanand Gupta, an inmate serving as a guard inside the center, has been accused of defrauding Rs 1,015,370 from 10 juvenile delinquents, according to Parsa police spokesperson Kishor Lamsal.
Inmate Used Influence and eSewa for Fraud
Gupta, a resident of Lahan-3, Siraha, was in the center for a drug-related offense. Just as he was about to be released on Asar 32, the victims filed a complaint against him.
The investigation reveals that Gupta used pressure and manipulation to extract the money via eSewa, a popular digital payment service in Nepal.
Police Begin Investigation on Criminal Breach of Trust
Police have now arrested Gupta and taken him into custody. He is being investigated under the charges of criminal breach of trust and wrongful gain. Authorities have been granted a three-day remand to continue the investigation.
