Kapil Sharma has expressed pride and support as Kap’s Cafe, his restaurant in Surrey, Canada, is set to reopen after a temporary closure following a firing incident. Taking to Instagram Stories, the comedian reshared a heartfelt post originally shared by Kap’s Cafe, announcing the reopening.
The message from the cafe read:
“Kap’s Cafe. Reopens tomorrow. We’ve missed you and are truly grateful for your continued love and support. With heartfelt thanks, we’re opening our doors again–ready to welcome you back with warmth, comfort, and care. See you soon, 8 am to 10 pm.”
In the caption, the team added, “The lights are on, the coffee’s warm, and our hearts are full. Kap’s Cafe reopens tomorrow. Catch us daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. See you there.”
Kapil reshared the post, writing, “Proud of you team @thekapscafe ❤️.”
What Happened at Kap’s Cafe?
On July 10, multiple gunshots were fired outside Kap’s Cafe at around 1:50 am (local time), according to Surrey Police. Staff members were inside during the shooting, but fortunately, no one was hurt. Around 10 bullet holes were found in one of the windows, and another windowpane was shattered.
The building housing the cafe includes ground-level retail units and residential apartments above. A multi-faith center and two yet-to-open businesses are also located in the same block.
Kap’s Cafe Responds to the Incident
In a heartfelt Instagram post titled A Message From Heart, the cafe team described the event as “heartbreaking” and said they were “shocked” by what had occurred. Despite the trauma, they expressed determination to continue creating a warm and welcoming space.
“We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking,” the post read.
The team thanked the community and the Surrey Police for their support, adding, “Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together.”
Kap’s Cafe opened earlier this month and has already become a symbol of community in the area. With doors now open again, the team is determined to move forward, stronger than ever.
