The Election Commission has approved the schedule for the upcoming by-election in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, set to take place on Kartik 17 (around early November).
According to Nita Pokharel Aryal, spokesperson and joint secretary of the commission, the election process will officially start on October 11 at 10 AM, with candidate nominations open until 5 PM on the same day.
The list of candidates will be published by 7 PM on October 11. Any objections to the candidates can be filed on October 22 between 10 AM and 3 PM.
From 3 PM on October 22 to 5 PM on October 23, the commission will investigate objections and finalize decisions on nominations.
On October 23, the final candidate list will be published between 5 PM and 7 PM.
Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their names on October 24 from 10 AM to 1 PM.
The final candidate list will be officially published by the Election Officer’s office on October 24 from 1 PM to 3 PM.
From 3 PM to 6 PM on the same day, candidates will receive their election symbols.
Voting will be held on Kartik 17 from 7 AM to 5 PM.
The commission also reminded that those listed in the closed list for proportional representation in the House of Representatives or Provincial Assembly elections of 2079 are legally not eligible to contest this by-election.
