Bangladesh air force training jet crashes into school

A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed onto the campus of Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area on Monday afternoon, killing at least one person and injuring four others.

The crash occurred while students were present at the school, causing panic and chaos in the vicinity. Television footage from the scene showed thick plumes of smoke and flames rising from the crash site.

In an official statement, the Bangladesh Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the downed aircraft was an F-7 BGI fighter jet used for training purposes. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Fire service official Lima Khan said by phone that at least one fatality had been confirmed and four people had sustained injuries. However, she did not clarify whether the victims were from the aircraft or the school.

Emergency response teams, including firefighters and military personnel, rushed to the site to control the fire and assist in rescue operations.

Further updates are expected as authorities continue their investigation into the crash and assess the damage.
