Bobby Deol’s intense first look in Anurag Kashyap’s TIFF 2025 film Bandar

Renowned Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is back with another bold and thought-provoking project titled Bandar (Monkey in a Cage), which will have its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The festival will run from September 4 to 14, 2025, and the film will screen under the Special Presentations section—reserved for standout global cinema.

On July 22, actor Bobby Deol shared the official first look of Bandar and wrote, “The story that should not have been told… but is the Official Selection at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival 2025.”

The film marks a significant milestone as the first official announcement of the project, revealing its storyline, cast, and premiere date. Bobby Deol, who recently impressed audiences with intense roles in Aashram and Animal, is expected to deliver yet another powerful performance in Bandar.

Directed by Kashyap and produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, and Sapna Pabbi. Known for pushing cinematic boundaries with films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Ugly, and Black Friday, Kashyap once again dives into a politically charged narrative based on real-life events.

Bandar’s inclusion in TIFF 2025 is a proud moment for Indian cinema, especially as the festival celebrates its 50th edition. The film’s selection signals growing international appreciation for Indian stories that are bold, relevant, and socially aware.

With its gripping storyline, stellar cast, and Kashyap’s fearless direction, Bandar is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Audiences across the globe are waiting to see what this hard-hitting film will reveal when it premieres at TIFF.
