Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has given a glowing Maareesan review, an upcoming Tamil-language comedy thriller that’s set to release on July 25. Directed by Sudheesh Sankar and written by V Krishna Moorthy, the film features the dynamic duo of Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles.
A mix of humour, emotion and social insight
After watching the film, Haasan took to social media platform X to share his thoughts. He wrote, “Watched Maareesan – a film that dances effortlessly between wit and depth, leaving me laughing, thinking, and admiring its craft. Had a wonderful conversation with the team to congratulate them on this delightful creation. Beneath its humour lies a socially conscious lens on human emotion and a keen gaze at the darker shadows of our society.”
He also described the film as the kind of spirited, inventive cinema that he enjoys both as a viewer and a creator.

A powerful team behind the scenes
Produced by RB Choudary under the Super Good Films banner, Maareesan brings together an impressive technical crew. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music, Kalaiselvan Sivaji is behind the lens as the cinematographer, and Sreejith Sarang has taken on editing duties.
With such a solid team, the film is expected to strike a balance between entertainment and thoughtful storytelling.
Big release day with strong competition
Maareesan is not the only film hitting the big screens on July 25. It will release alongside Thalaivan Thalaivii starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu featuring Pawan Kalyan. Despite the competition, Maareesan has already built strong buzz, thanks to its unique mix of comedy and commentary, and Kamal Haasan’s early endorsement.
With Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil known for their impactful performances, and Sudheesh Sankar’s reputation for crafting compelling narratives, audiences are eagerly waiting to see what Maareesan has in store.
