South Indian cinema icon and politician Pawan Kalyan is all set to return to the silver screen with the highly anticipated historical action epic Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which releases in theatres on July 24, 2025.

In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, the actor candidly spoke about his long-time desire to step away from acting. “I never thought I’d do films for so long,” he admitted. “Back in 2006 or 2007, I had planned to direct five films and retire. If my directorial debut Johnny had succeeded, I would’ve quit acting and moved on to social work or politics.”

Despite his passion for other fields, Pawan said financial commitments and lack of an alternate income kept him tied to the film industry. “Now, I feel it’s time to activate my production house and move ahead,” he shared.

Why He Won’t Promote the Film

Though fans are eager to see him back in action, the actor-turned-Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will not be promoting the film. Producer A.M. Rathnam confirmed that Pawan Kalyan’s political duties will prevent him from participating in any promotional campaigns for the movie.

About Hari Hara Veera Mallu

After years of delay, the film has finally cleared CBFC certification with a UA rating and a final runtime of 2 hours and 42 minutes. Titled Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit, the story is set in the 17th-century Mughal Empire, following the legendary outlaw Veera Mallu, played by Pawan Kalyan.

Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A.M. Jyothi Krishna, the film also stars Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi, and Satyaraj in key roles. Filming began in 2020 and officially wrapped in May 2025.

Adding to the buzz, the music is composed by Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani, making this film a true pan-India cinematic event.
