A recent gang-related dispute in Kathmandu’s Thamel area has led to the arrest of Rajendra Gurung, the owner of the popular Omnia Club. He was taken into custody on Saturday, according to SSP Bishwo Adhikari of Kathmandu Police.

Fight broke out between two rival groups

The clash took place on Shrawan 14 at a local dohori (live folk music) bar in Thamel, involving two known groups—one led by Rajendra Gurung and the other by ‘Sanubhai’, also known as Yuvraj Gurung. The altercation turned violent, prompting police intervention.

During the initial incident, three individuals were arrested on the spot by the Sorakhutte Police. Among them were Dil Kumar Tumbapo and Rabindra Gurung, both linked to the Sanubhai group. Ironically, it was the Omnia Club management that had originally alerted the police.

Omnia club owner was on the run

Despite being involved, Rajendra Gurung had evaded arrest at the time of the incident. However, police tracked him down and arrested him on Saturday. The Kathmandu District Administration Office has extended their custody for further investigation under charges of “public misbehavior.”

Ongoing feud between rival gangs

This isn’t the first time these two groups have clashed. Back on Asar 15, 2080, the Sanubhai group allegedly attacked Rajendra Gurung. Although arrests were made, Sanubhai was later released on bail. With the feud reigniting once again, authorities are now taking the matter seriously.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests could follow depending on what is uncovered.
