Director Ashok Thapa Magar, known for the hit film Khusma, is back with a new project titled Jalaki. On Monday, the film team released two eye-catching posters featuring lead actors Dhiraj Magar and Upasana Singh Thakuri. The posters, designed by Royal Bhimsen, have created curiosity about the film’s story.
Jalaki brings back the popular on-screen pair from Khusma—Upasana Singh Thakuri and Dhiraj Magar. Upasana recently won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in Khusma. This new film is based on a love triangle and stars Sonam Topden in a lead role alongside Upasana and Dhiraj. Former Miss Sikkim, Sahara Hangma Limbu, will make her debut in the Nepali film industry through this movie.
The film also features several well-known actors, including Shilpa Maskey, Maotse Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, Astitwa Bhattchan, Sangita Thapa Magar, Raju Regmi Magar, and Khadka Bahadur Pun (Khabpu).
About Jalaki Movie
The word Jalaki refers to a stone pillar that holds cultural and emotional value in the Magar community. It is seen as a symbol of memory or love. According to director Ashok Thapa Magar, the film will be shot in three phases across various locations in Rukum, Rolpa, Myagdi, Baglung, Pokhara, and even South Korea. The movie also aims to highlight the traditions and culture of the Magar and Gurung communities.
The first phase of shooting was completed last Chaitra, and the second phase will begin on Ashoj 21 .
