Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire, known by the nickname ‘Himachituwa’, has successfully set new records in the kickboxing world. In the ‘K-1 World Max 2025’ competition held at the National Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, Ghimire defeated Japanese boxer Yasuhiro Shirasu, claiming victory.
Earlier, on November 11, during the ‘International Kickboxing’ (ISKA) competition in Nagoya, Japan, Ghimire had already defeated French boxer Antonin Marconi, securing the title of ‘World Champion’.
With these victories, Ghimire has now won three matches in K-1 Kickboxing and has become the world champion in ISKA and Hit Kickboxing as well.
After winning the ‘K-1 World Max 2025’ title, Ghimire expressed gratitude towards his father and head coach, Dev Ghimire, his training dojo, Simura Dojo, and all the Nepali, Korean, and Japanese supporters who cheered him on. Ghimire defeated Shirasu in the third round to claim the victory.
Ghimire has already defeated boxers from countries like France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Bolivia, Netherlands, and Thailand, making him a renowned player on the international kickboxing stage. Through his continued success, he has raised the Nepali flag high, bringing global recognition to Nepal.
Currently, Ghimire is training in Nagoya under his father Dev Ghimire, who is a former international kickboxer and full-contact karate player. Before entering the competition, Ghimire underwent specialized training for a month at the Tiger Muay Thai club in Thailand.
Dev Ghimire, Abiral’s father, made history in 2004 as the first South Asian athlete to compete in the ‘K-1 Professional Kickboxing’ event in Seoul, South Korea. The Ghimire family currently resides in Nagoya, Japan.
