Just days after actor Srikanth was arrested in connection with a narcotics case, Tamil film actor Krishna has gone absconding, with his name now surfacing in the same investigation.
Krishna, known for his roles in Veera, Kalari, Maari 2, and Kazhugu 2, has reportedly been unreachable since the probe intensified. According to sources, he switched off his mobile phone and has remained out of contact. A five-member police team has been deployed to trace his whereabouts.
Krishna is the son of well-known film producer KK Sekar, popularly known as Pattiyal Sekar, and the younger brother of acclaimed filmmaker Vishnuvardhan. His alleged involvement has sent shockwaves through the Tamil film fraternity.
The controversy erupted after actor Srikanth was taken into custody on Monday by the Greater Chennai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU). Srikanth, who has appeared in over 50 films across Tamil and Telugu cinema, was subjected to medical tests at Kilpauk Government Hospital, which confirmed drug consumption. He was subsequently arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities stated that Srikanth’s arrest followed the detention of T. Prasad, a member of the AIADMK’s IT wing, who was allegedly supplying him with narcotics. The investigation has since expanded, with police now probing whether other film personalities were also involved in procuring and consuming banned substances.
Crucially, the confession of drug supplier Prashanth has linked both Srikanth and Krishna to drug use. According to his statement, Srikanth allegedly purchased cocaine for ₹12,000 during the shoot of his film Theengirai. Prashanth further claimed that both actors consumed the substance at parties in Chennai.
His testimony is being treated as key evidence in the case and has triggered widespread concern and debate in the film industry. The developments have not only alarmed fans but also raised serious questions about drug abuse within the entertainment sector.
As the investigation unfolds, all eyes remain on the police’s efforts to locate Krishna and uncover the full extent of the drug network operating in the Tamil film circuit.
