Tamil actor Ajith Kumar was hospitalised in Chennai on Wednesday after sustaining a minor leg injury during a chaotic scene at the Chennai airport. According to a report by India Today, the actor was mobbed by an overwhelming crowd of fans upon his return from New Delhi, where he had just been conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan award.

Sources close to Ajith revealed that the actor suffered a small injury to his leg during the commotion. “Ajith Kumar sir had to be admitted for physiotherapy following the incident,” a statement read. “He is expected to be discharged by this evening. There is no cause for concern regarding his health.”

The situation unfolded on Tuesday when Ajith arrived in Chennai. As reported by Thanthi TV, a massive gathering of fans awaited him at the airport, eager to catch a glimpse of the star. The crowd reportedly became difficult to control, leading to the minor mishap.

Ajith had travelled to Delhi to receive the Padma Bhushan—India’s third-highest civilian award—from President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held on Monday. His wife, Shalini Ajith, was seen at the event, proudly supporting him from the audience.

In a statement issued after the award announcement in January, Ajith expressed his gratitude: “I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu and the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for this prestigious honour. It is a privilege to be recognized at such a level and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgment of my contributions to our nation.”

On the professional front, Ajith was last seen in the action film Good Bad Ugly.
