Ali Fazal has long been linked to Raj and DK’s upcoming fantasy action web series Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom. Rumored to be playing a powerful monarch navigating a challenging realm, the show also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha, and Wamiqa Gabbi. While Ali has kept quiet about his involvement until now, he has officially confirmed his role.
“I’ve been looking forward to this collaboration for a while, and I’m thrilled it’s finally happening,” Ali shares. “It became even more exciting when I got to work with Rahi (Anil Barve, the director), whose work I’ve admired for a long time. He’s a genius. Being part of the world that Raj and DK have created is a refreshing change. It’s something entirely new to our industry, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Ali will be sporting a fresh look for the series, which required him to grow his hair for a full year. Reflecting on his transformation, he says, “My look in Rakt Brahmand is something different, something I’ve never done before. I had fun experimenting with hairstyles, like making buns. It gave me a glimpse of what it’s like to have long hair, like how girls manage their hair—quite a task!”
During the year Ali spent growing his hair, he also became a father to his daughter, Zuneyra Ida Fazal. He jokes about how she might react to his hair transformation: “She’ll just have to get used to it. I don’t think she’ll be surprised like those kids in Instagram reels who are shocked when their dads look different. It’s all part of the job. I hope she enjoys seeing the various looks I get to wear in my career.”
When asked if fatherhood has changed his perspective on work, Ali is thoughtful: “I’m still figuring out how being a father has influenced my acting. While the scripts haven’t changed, I now have the privilege to choose the roles I take. I’m sure this beautiful little being in my life will shift things in some way, though I’m not sure how just yet.”
