Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the captain and goalkeeper of Nepal’s national women’s football team, has left for Greece to pursue professional football. She departed today, marking a significant milestone in her career.
At Tribhuvan International Airport, Anjila was seen off by key figures including Pema Dolma Lama, Central Member of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Spokesperson Suresh Shah, and Bindra Dewan, the manager of the women’s team.
Under Anjila’s leadership, the Nepali team reached the final of the Four Nations International Women’s Championship, where they faced Myanmar. Unfortunately, Nepal was defeated 2-0. The day after the final, teammates Sabitra Bhandari “Samba” and Rekha Poudel departed for France and the UAE, respectively, after returning from the championship.
Additionally, Anjila participated in the trailer launch event of a biographical film based on her life earlier today. Her journey continues to inspire and spotlight the growing importance of women’s football in Nepal.
