Director Krisha Chaulagain is currently preparing for her upcoming movie ‘Jahajai Ma’, which has already entered the pre-production phase with casting in full swing. The film has confirmed a strong ensemble that includes Saugat Malla, Kedar Ghimire, Karma Shakya, Barsha Siwakoti, and Japanese actress Rujhel Ichimiya. Now, another name has officially joined the list; Anubhav Regmi.
Anubhav Regmi Signs for Lead Role
According to close sources, Anubhav Regmi recently signed the contract with the production team earlier this week. While the filmmakers have not publicly confirmed his involvement yet, it’s reported that his official introduction will be made through a formal event. The team has even presented him with a special gift to welcome him on board.
Anubhav, who made his mark as a child actor in the popular ‘Nai Nabhannu La’ film series, has worked in several Nepali films like Rhythm, Kali, Aawaran, Prem Geet 3, Shabda, Bhaire, and Hajar Junisamma. However, ‘Jahajai Ma’ will mark his debut as a lead actor.
From Backup to First Choice
Interestingly, Anubhav wasn’t the first choice for the role. Initially, the film was offered to actor Pradeep Khadka. The team even visited Baglung during the shooting of Pradeep’s other movie ‘Airi’ to discuss the role. However, due to his packed schedule with another project starting in Bhadra, Pradeep had to decline. This opened the door for Anubhav to take the lead role.
In ‘Jahajai Ma’, he will play a character who travels from Nepal to Japan for studies.
International Shoot and Release Plan
The film is being produced by UNA Productions, with Ujjwal Guragain stepping into film production for the first time after distributing several Nepali movies in Japan.
‘Jahajai Ma’ will be shot across Japan, Nepal, and the Philippines, with filming scheduled to begin in Bhadra. The movie is slated for a Falgun 1 release.
With a strong cast and international shooting locations, ‘Jahajai Ma’ promises to bring something fresh to Nepali cinema.
