Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, widely known as The Rebel Kid, made her return to Instagram with a series of new posts after a period of silence following the controversy surrounding the India’s Got Latent show. On Tuesday, Apoorva shared a message addressing the online threats she has received in recent weeks, shedding light on the abuse she endured.
In her posts, Apoorva included a warning, “Trigger warning: This post contains mentions of acid attacks, rape threats, and death threats,” before sharing several screenshots of the disturbing comments and messages. She captioned one of her posts with, “And that’s not even 1%,” highlighting the extent of the online harassment.
In another post, Apoorva shared a poignant statement, “Don’t take away the story from the storyteller,” though she chose not to add any further commentary.
Fans quickly rallied to show their support for Apoorva, leaving encouraging comments on her posts. One fan wrote, “COME BACK. We don’t deserve the story, but you deserve the love,” while another commented, “My queen, you absolutely got this. You are such a strong girl!!” Many expressed their frustration with the trolling, with one person saying, “Imagine trolling a woman for taking a stand for herself,” and another adding, “They wanted you quiet. The controversy surrounding Apoorva dates back to February, when she appeared on the India’s Got Latent show hosted by Samay Raina. The episode became embroiled in a backlash after guest Ranveer Allahbadia made crude comments about parents and sex, sparking outrage. Multiple complaints were filed against the show’s hosts and guests, including Apoorva. She was accused of making an inappropriate comment during the broadcast, leading to her appearance before the Mumbai police. The National Commission for Women also took notice of the situation and summoned those involved due to the offensive nature of the remarks.
Despite the controversy, Apoorva’s comeback post has been met with overwhelming support, as fans continue to back her amidst the online abuse.
