Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on X Thursday, hinting at the arrival of “the newest member of the family” on February 19. The most likely candidate for the upcoming release is the fourth-generation iPhone SE, a budget-friendly device that has been long anticipated. Although a potential iPhone SE release was initially expected a week earlier, Apple surprised users with new Beats headphones instead.
It has been three years since the last iPhone SE launched at $429, and the device plays a crucial role in markets like China and India. This time around, Apple is expected to phase out the Touch ID home button in favor of Face ID authentication.
The new iPhone SE is rumored to feature the same chip used in the iPhone 16, enabling it to support Apple’s generative AI service, Apple Intelligence. This release comes shortly after Alibaba confirmed its partnership with Apple to introduce AI features on the iPhone in China.
