Argentina Secures Spot in FIFA

Defending champion Argentina has officially qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026, set to take place in North America.

Argentina confirmed its place even before facing Brazil, as Uruguay and Bolivia played to a goalless draw in the South American qualifiers.

In the 10-team South American qualifying round, six teams earn direct entry to the World Cup.

With 13 matches played, Argentina leads the table with 28 points, holding a six-point advantage over the second-place team.

This makes Argentina the first South American nation to qualify for the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

Currently, Argentina is playing against Brazil in the qualifiers.

A total of seven teams, including the three host nations, have already secured their spots. Japan and Iran have qualified from Asia, while New Zealand has earned a place from Oceania.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature 48 teams competing for the title.
