Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has climbed to the top spot in the ICC rankings.
According to the latest rankings released by the ICC on Wednesday, Omarzai moved up two places to claim the No. 1 position. Previously, his compatriot Mohammad Nabi held the top spot.
Nabi is now in second place, while former second-ranked Sikandar Raza has dropped to third. Omarzai has a rating of 296, while Nabi and Raza have ratings of 292 and 290, respectively.
Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz is ranked fourth, followed by New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner in fifth and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan in sixth.
Australia’s Glenn Maxwell is in seventh place, Namibia’s Brandon McMullen is eighth, India’s Ravindra Jadeja is ninth, and Namibia’s captain Gerhard Erasmus remains in tenth place.
Omarzai delivered an outstanding performance in the ongoing Champions Trophy. In three matches, he scored 126 runs and took seven wickets, including a match-winning five-wicket haul against England.
