Barry Keoghan Gears Up to Play Ringo Starr in Upcoming Beatles Biopic

Barry Keoghan might have just landed the biggest role of his career — playing Beatles drummer Ringo Starr in a new biopic about the legendary band. Of course, this depends on how the film turns out, but fans are already excited.

To prepare for the role, Barry has been closely studying Ringo Starr himself. He even got to meet the rock legend in person, which was a huge moment for the actor. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Barry said, “Meeting Ringo was such a shock. He’s an icon, and I’m paying close attention to all his little habits without making it obvious.”

Barry’s dedication doesn’t stop there. He’s also working hard to build chemistry with the other actors playing the Beatles. Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson (known from Babygirl) will be John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn will take on George Harrison’s role.

Barry shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live how nervous he was when Ringo played the drums for him at his house. “He asked me to play, but I was too nervous to look at him. He told me I could look, but I just kept thinking, ‘I’m playing Ringo Starr,’” Barry recalled.

Directed by Sam Mendes, the Beatles biopic is expected to hit theaters in April 2028. Fans of the band and movie lovers alike have plenty to look forward to as this project moves forward.
