Ben Affleck Reflects on the End of His Marriage to Jennifer Lopez
In a candid interview with GQ’s April 2025 cover, Affleck reflected on his past marriage to Jennifer Lopez, especially after participating in her documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. He shared that while Lopez thrives in the public eye, he prefers a more private life. “I’m more reserved, and she handles fame with ease,” Affleck explained. Despite their differences, he emphasized that their contrasting views on fame weren’t the reason for their breakup. “It’s not like you can watch that documentary and say, ‘Now I get why they split.’ It wasn’t the cause,” he clarified.
Affleck also expressed his admiration for Lopez, saying, “I love and support this person. I want people to see that. You don’t marry a ship captain and then complain about the water.”
Co-Parenting with Jennifer Garner
When discussing his relationship with his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children, Affleck spoke warmly about their co-parenting partnership. “I’m really lucky to have a great co-parent in Jennifer,” he said, highlighting their teamwork when it comes to raising their children. Affleck also shared how they dealt with media speculation, explaining how they would reassure their kids when they saw tabloid headlines. “We’d tell them, ‘You know this isn’t always true. If it were, we’d have 15 brothers and sisters,’” he laughed.

Affleck also opened up about the constant attention his personal life receives, saying that he doesn’t mind the paparazzi. “I don’t care that people are there to take my picture,” he said. Despite the public interest, he described his life as “pretty drama-free,” adding, “If someone sat down and talked to me about it, their eyes would glaze over with boredom.”
