At her recent Houston concert, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour gave fans a moment of worry when a technical glitch disrupted one of her stage effects. While performing “16 Carriages” at NRG Stadium on Saturday night, the singer was elevated above the audience in a flying car prop, designed to bring her closer to fans. Suddenly, the car tilted sharply to one side, causing the crowd to gasp in shock. Fortunately, Beyoncé was safely and swiftly brought back down to the stage. With a reassuring smile, she calmed the audience and received a wave of cheers.
Variety reported that the flying car malfunctioned mid-performance, leaning dangerously and sparking concern for Beyoncé’s safety. After the incident, she returned to the stage and lightened the mood by joking, “If I ever fall, I know y’all would catch me.” The audience responded with enthusiastic applause.
Parkwood, Beyoncé’s management company, confirmed the situation via Instagram Stories, stating, “Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car to tilt. She was quickly lowered, and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.”
The Houston concert marked one stop on Beyoncé’s 22-date Cowboy Carter tour. Following Houston, she will perform in Washington, D.C. on July 4 and 7, before wrapping up the tour with final shows in Atlanta on July 10 and 11. Earlier this year, Beyoncé earned three Grammy Awards for her Cowboy Carter album, including Album of the Year — making her the first Black woman to claim the top prize since Lauryn Hill in 1999.
