WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging platform worldwide, has announced that it will stop supporting certain older iPhone models. If you’re using an older iPhone, you might not be able to use WhatsApp after May 5, 2025.

The latest update will mainly affect users of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5S. WhatsApp will no longer support stable versions on these devices after May 5th.

The company is planning to remove support for older operating systems in order to introduce new features. As part of this, support for iOS 12, iOS 13, and iOS 14 will be discontinued. From now on, you will need iOS 15.1 or higher to run WhatsApp.

How to Check for Updates:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Click on Software Update.
  4. Install the latest iOS version available.

If no update is available, your only option will be to switch to a new phone.

WhatsApp has already stopped providing the latest updates to older iPhones for beta testers. This suggests the company is in the process of phasing out support for those devices.

The new update will bring enhanced security features, new functions, and more stable performance. According to the company, these changes will be more effective on newer phones.

If you want to keep using WhatsApp, it’s time to update your device or consider switching to a new phone.
