Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi in Talks to Move from Colors TV to Sony

Two of the most popular reality TV shows in India, Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi, might soon be leaving Colors TV. According to sources close to the matter, both shows are currently in discussions with Sony TV, potentially marking a significant shift for the Viacom-owned channel.

Bigg Boss, hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, and Khatron Ke Khiladi, which is hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty, are produced by Endemol India. Both shows have been staples on Colors TV and are also available for streaming on Jio+ Hotstar under a deal with Viacom. However, insider reports suggest that there have been creative differences between Endemol and Viacom, leading to the ongoing talks about moving these shows to Sony TV.

A source familiar with the developments revealed, “Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi could make a switch to Sony due to the growing differences over the direction of the shows.” Despite inquiries made by Hindustan Times, Colors TV has yet to respond to these claims.

Bigg Boss, which first aired on Sony TV in 2006, has since been a regular on Colors TV from its second season onwards. Both shows are adaptations of successful international formats, with Bigg Boss inspired by the UK’s Big Brother, and Khatron Ke Khiladi based on the American show Fear Factor.

While Bigg Boss continues to be one of the highest-rated reality shows in India, its viewership has experienced some decline in recent years. Nonetheless, it remains a popular fixture on Indian television. Similarly, Khatron Ke Khiladi has maintained a loyal audience and strong ratings for over a decade. Both shows have featured numerous well-known TV celebrities over the years.

While the discussions between Endemol and Sony TV are ongoing, no official agreement has been finalized as of now.
