Former Jhapa Gold Cup president and young entrepreneur from Birtamod, Binod Basnet, was found dead at his home. According to the Jhapa District Police Office, Basnet was discovered hanging at his residence in Birtamod Municipality-1.
Basnet was actively involved in social work, business, and leadership roles. He had served as the former president of the Jhapa Gold Cup organizing committee, former national executive vice president of Nepal Jaycees, and past president of both Birta Jaycees and Rotary Club of Birtamod.
He was also a member of the executive committee of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Province 1), general secretary of the Mechi Petroleum Dealers Association, co-coordinator of the “Ekka Lagi Ek” campaign, president of Samaj Jhapa, and ran several businesses including Sapatri Trade Link.
Police said the 52-year-old’s death is under further investigation.
