Speaking to Variety, Park Jeong Min revealed that it was the show’s refreshing take on the zombie genre that drew him to the project. “It’s more adorable, humorous, and light-hearted— a true zombie romantic comedy, a ‘zom-com.’ That uniqueness was what made me want to be part of this project,” he said.
He also shared his chemistry with Jisoo, commenting that their bond was immediate, making their on-screen relationship feel authentic and enjoyable.
Jisoo’s First Zombie Experience
For Jisoo, Newtopia marks her first foray into a zombie-themed show. She expressed her excitement about filming action sequences and noted how much she enjoyed the physicality of the role. “I worked out on my days off, stretched before filming, and stayed focused during rehearsals to prevent injuries,” she shared.
On the overall tone of the show, Jisoo added, “A zombie apocalypse can feel like a heavy theme, but Newtopia balances the grimness with characters who navigate the chaos in unique ways, all while keeping a sense of humor.”
