Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for the final leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The 28-year-old pacer steps in for South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, who is leaving the tournament early to prepare for the World Test Championship final with the Proteas.
Available From 26 May
The IPL confirmed that Muzarabani’s replacement role will take effect from 26 May — just a day before Royal Challengers Bengaluru play their last league match against Lucknow Super Giants.
Busy Week for Blessing Muzarabani
Before joining RCB, Muzarabani will be in action for Zimbabwe in a four-day Test against England at Trent Bridge, which wraps up on 25 May.
IPL Debut Incoming
Though this will be his first time playing in the IPL, Muzarabani has been part of the league before as a net bowler. He also brings experience from global T20 leagues like the Caribbean Premier League and the Pakistan Super League. In 118 T20 matches, he has picked up 127 wickets with an economy rate of 7.24.
RCB’s Play-Off Push
RCB have already secured a place in the IPL play-offs, starting 29 May. With concerns over Australian quick Josh Hazlewood’s shoulder injury, Blessing Muzarabani’s arrival could be a timely boost for the team’s pace attack.
