The body of Suraj Saud, a missing Armed Police Force (APF) diver, was recovered from the Koshi River near Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-1, Saptari. He had gone missing during a disaster preparedness training drill on Saturday.
Found Near Koshi Barrage Gate No. 55
According to APF Assistant Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa, Saud’s body was found on Sunday morning by a diving team led by DSP Purushottam Bhandari from Kurintar. The body was recovered near Gate No. 55 of the Koshi Barrage.
Diver Was Involved in Training Exercise
Saud was based at APF No. 13 Battalion in Parsa and was currently serving at No. 2 Chhinnamasta Bahini Headquarters. He had gone missing alongside Hardev Rajbanshi, another diver stationed at No. 1 Shree Antu Battalion, Ilam, who was working with the Dantakali Special Training School in Saptari.
The incident occurred during a provincial-level disaster preparedness training when both divers were caught in a water whirlpool near Gates 55/56. Saud was from Doti, while Rajbanshi is from Jhapa. Both had completed professional diving training in 2080 and 2081 BS, respectively.
