The body of 19-year-old Bimala Kattel from Salleri, Phakphokthum Municipality-3, Ilam, was found buried 15 days after she went missing.
According to the Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ilam, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Maan Bahadur Rai, the body was discovered today in a buried state. The body was found at a place called Dharne Khop (Dahal Golai) in Phakphokthum Municipality.
The District Police Office, Ilam, stated that the exhumation process is currently underway.
The police mentioned that they will complete the exhumation and follow legal procedures before continuing with the investigation.
The woman, who resided in Jitpur, Deumai Municipality, Ilam, had been missing since the 1st of Chaitra. After her disappearance, Bimala’s father-in-law, Krishna Lal Giri, filed a missing person report with the police.
It is suspected that her husband, Umesh Giri, may have been involved in her disappearance. Police have detained Umesh Giri on suspicion of his involvement in the incident.
