On Chaitra 15, security guard Dul Prasad Parajuli, who displayed bravery in controlling the violent protests by pro-monarchy groups, preventing looting and vandalism at BhatBhateni Supermarket, has been rewarded.
In a special ceremony held on Tuesday, BhatBhateni honored Parajuli with a cash prize of NPR 501,111, a gold ring, and a five-grade promotion. BhatBhateni’s proprietor, Min Bahadur Gurung, personally attended the event and honored Parajuli by placing a garland of dubo (sacred grass) around his neck. Parajuli has been serving at BhatBhateni for 22 years.
On Chaitra 15, during the pro-monarchy group’s looting and vandalism attempt, Parajuli confronted the looters to protect BhatBhateni. A video of him chasing the looters away with a baton went viral on social media. During the ceremony, other employees were also rewarded and honored.
