K-pop icons Jin of BTS and soloist IU marked South Korea’s Children’s Day with generous charitable acts aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of children in need.
According to Allkpop, Jin extended a helping hand to the children’s ward at Seoul Asan Medical Centre. The hospital shared a heartfelt statement from Jin: “My heart aches every time I see children battling illness. I decided to make this small donation in hopes that these children can recover quickly and play joyfully again.” His contribution will aid in enhancing medical care and facilities for young patients undergoing treatment.
IU, meanwhile, made a meaningful donation of 150 million KRW under the name “IUaena”—a blend of her stage name and her fan club, Uaena. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, revealed that the funds will benefit children with disabilities and young individuals preparing to live independently. The donation will support institutions like Hansarang by funding boiler replacements, covering medical and rehab expenses, and distributing gifts to children.
This isn’t IU’s first philanthropic act this year—she previously donated 200 million KRW to aid wildfire recovery efforts in Gyeongsang Province.
More Than Celebrities
IU, celebrated for her roles in My Mister, Dream High, and Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines, is set to appear in the upcoming drama The Queen of Tears in the 21st Century. She’s also known for chart-topping tracks like Good Day and Eight.
Jin, having completed his military service alongside fellow member J-Hope, is gearing up for his solo fan concert series #RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR, set to kick off in June. He’ll be performing across Japan, the U.S., the U.K., and the Netherlands, around the same time his bandmates RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are expected to complete their military service.
Their thoughtful donations highlight how both stars continue to use their platforms to spread kindness and support meaningful causes.
