The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially greenlit a shortened version of Sekhar Kammula’s much-anticipated pan-India film Kuberaa, which stars Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles. The revised cut has been awarded a U/A certificate and now clocks in at 181 minutes—just over three hours.
Previously, Kuberaa was certified with a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes. However, the filmmakers had hinted in earlier interviews that they would trim the film after securing certification to avoid any last-minute stress ahead of release. Staying true to their word, the final version is now four minutes over the three-hour mark.
Speaking about the film, Dhanush, who headlines the project alongside Nagarjuna, shared how special Kuberaa is to him. “This role is unlike anything I’ve done before. I didn’t need to do much research or stand under the sun like people claim. I just followed my director, Sekhar sir. He made the process smooth and taught me a lot. It’s a film close to my heart,” the actor said, highlighting the unique challenges and experiences during the shoot, which included filming in dump yards and garbage trucks.
Kuberaa marks the first collaboration between Dhanush and acclaimed director Sekhar Kammula, raising anticipation among fans. The film also stars Jim Sarbh and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles, further amplifying the star power.
On the technical side, the music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, who continues his winning streak at the box office. Cinematographer Niketh Bommi captures the visual storytelling, while Ramakrishna Sabbani and Monika Nigotre handle production design. The screenplay is co-written by Chaithanya Pingali, with costume design by Kavya Sriram and Poorvaa Jain.
Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the Sree Venkateswara Cinemas banner, Kuberaa is gearing up for a massive theatrical release soon.
