ChatGPT Down: Users Face Another Outage After Free Image Tool Launch

ChatGPT Down Users Face Another Outage

OpenAI’s ChatGPT stopped working again on Wednesday evening (April 2), just days after facing issues due to its free image generation tool. OpenAI confirmed the problem on its official page. Many users also reported the issue on Downdetector and social media.

The outage mainly affected ChatGPT, causing disruptions in three areas. The web version was still working, but iOS and Android users had trouble accessing it.

This comes after a similar issue on Tuesday evening when 1,594 users worldwide reported problems. Most complaints (94%) were about ChatGPT, raising concerns about OpenAI’s ability to handle the growing demand for AI services.

Possible Reasons for the Outage

OpenAI did not explain why ChatGPT stopped working, but it may be due to a sudden increase in users. The “Ghibli” trend on social media led to OpenAI adding over 1 million users in an hour. The company had also made its Ghibli-style image-generation tool free for all users. However, due to high demand, OpenAI limited free users to just three image generations per day.
