Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava continues to dominate the worldwide box office in its first week, cementing its place as the first Hindi film of 2025 to cross the ₹300 crore mark. The historical biopic, which portrays the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has captivated audiences and set the cash registers ringing across theatres globally.

Box Office Milestone

On Friday, the film’s makers shared the latest collection update, revealing that Chhaava has amassed an impressive ₹310.50 crore at the global box office within a week. The film has also performed phenomenally in India, entering the coveted ₹200 crore club in its opening week. According to reports from Sacnilk.com, the domestic earnings stand at a strong ₹225.28 crore after seven days.

Tax-Free Status in Goa and Madhya Pradesh

In recognition of the film’s cultural and historical significance, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declared Chhaava tax-free in the state. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh also extended the same benefit. The announcements coincided with the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire and father of Chhatrapati Sambhaji.

Vicky Kaushal’s Gratitude Towards Fans

Vicky Kaushal, who has received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to fans. Taking to Instagram, he acknowledged their overwhelming response, stating, “All your messages, calls… all the videos you all are sharing of your experience of watching Chhaava… I’m seeing it all… taking it all in. Thank you for all your love… Grateful to each and every one of you for celebrating the glory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.”

Star-Studded Cast and Historical Adaptation

Chhaava is an adaptation of the acclaimed Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, Divya Dutta as Soyarabai, Vineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash, and Ashutosh Rana as Hambirrao Mohite.
