Chhaava’s Strong Start at the Box Office

Vicky Kaushal’s much-anticipated historical drama Chhaava is off to a flying start at the box office, securing an impressive ₹13.78 crore in advance bookings ahead of its Valentine’s Day release. With over 4.87 lakh tickets already sold—predominantly in Maharashtra—the film is poised for a strong opening, with early projections estimating a first-day collection of ₹23-25 crore. However, its biggest competition this weekend comes from Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World.

A Solid Start for Chhaava

Even before its official release, Chhaava has generated substantial buzz, with advance ticket sales exceeding ₹13 crore. According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, this figure is expected to rise further, potentially reaching ₹17.87 crore when blocked seats are factored in. The movie is set to be one of the most successful historical dramas in terms of opening numbers.

Regional Strength and Market Trends

A significant portion of the film’s revenue is coming from Maharashtra, where local support has been exceptionally strong. Trade analysts predict that if positive word of mouth follows the release, Chhaava could enjoy sustained success in the state. However, its nationwide performance remains uncertain, as advance bookings in most regions—except Delhi—have struggled to cross the ₹1 crore mark.

Breakdown of Advance Sales

The Hindi 2D version has been the biggest contributor to the film’s advance earnings, raking in ₹13.17 crore. Meanwhile, the IMAX 2D version has garnered ₹41.55 lakh, and the ICE and 4DX formats have collectively earned over ₹18 lakh. Maharashtra alone has contributed a substantial ₹8.29 crore, highlighting the film’s regional dominance.

Facing Stiff Competition

Despite its strong opening, Chhaava faces a formidable rival in Captain America: Brave New World, which is also releasing on February 14. While Chhaava currently leads in advance bookings, it remains to be seen whether it can maintain momentum throughout the weekend. The film’s long-term box office success will largely depend on audience reception and critical response in the coming days.
