Chrome Users Alert Indian Government Warns About Serious Security Issues

India’s cybersecurity team CERT-In has issued a warning for all Google Chrome users on Windows and Mac. Two new security issues have been found that could let hackers steal your data or harm your system. These issues do not impact mobile Chrome users much, but if you’re using a desktop or laptop, this alert is for you.

CERT-In has advised users to update their Chrome browser right away. Installing the latest security patch is important to stay protected from these threats.

What’s the Problem in Chrome?

The main issue is tracked as CIVN-2025-0099. It affects Chrome versions before 136.0.7103.113/.114 on Windows and Mac, and 136.0.7103.113 on Linux. If your browser is not updated to this version or later, it may be at risk.

How Hackers Can Attack

According to CERT-In, the security flaws are due to weak controls in Chrome’s Loader component and mishandling in Mojo, a system that manages communication between processes in Chrome. If a hacker tricks you into opening a harmful web page, they could take advantage of these flaws.

This could let them run dangerous code on your computer. It might lead to personal data being exposed or your system crashing.

What You Should Do Now

If you are using Google Chrome on a Windows or Mac computer, go to Settings and update your browser immediately. Make sure the version is 136.0.7103.113 or newer.

Staying updated is the best way to protect your device and personal information from cyber threats.
