Church Boys United (CBU) have been crowned champions of the ANFA U16 Youth League after a dominant 3-0 victory over FC Khumaltar in their final league match at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Saturday.
CBU Secure Title with Convincing Win
With this win, CBU finished the league with 50 points from 20 matches, recording 16 wins, two draws, and two losses. Their closest rivals, Armed Police Force (APF) FC, currently sit in second place with 45 points from 19 games. Even if APF wins their final match against Nepal Police Club (NPC) on March 16, they will still fall two points short of CBU’s tally.
Match Highlights
Karan Chaudhary was the star of the match, scoring twice to put CBU in control. An own goal by Seyon Rai further sealed Khumaltar’s fate. With this loss, Khumaltar remains near the bottom of the table with only two wins and three draws from 20 games.
CBU’s Journey to the Title
Despite their success, CBU faced some tough matches along the way. They lost 3-2 to APF in the first round but managed to take revenge with a 1-0 win in the second round. Another setback came on February 8, when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Friends’ Club Kupondole. CBU’s two draws in the league came against Three Star Club on January 28 and Sankata Club on February 5.
Remaining Fixtures and Closing Ceremony
The ANFA U16 League, which started on December 27, is set to conclude on March 16. Four more games remain after CBU’s final fixture:
- March 14: Sankata vs Satdobato, Machhindra vs Army
- March 16: Friends vs Three Star, Police vs APF
There will be no matches on March 15. ANFA officials have announced that CBU will be awarded the league trophy and other honors at a closing ceremony on the final day.
With a dominant campaign, CBU have shown their strength and consistency, cementing themselves as the best U16 team in Nepal this season.
