Church Boys United put on a brilliant performance to reach the final of the 25th Budha Subba Gold Cup with a huge 7-0 win over Bhutan’s Royal Thimphu College (RTC) Club in Dharan on Wednesday.
The A Division club’s attack was on fire, with two hat-tricks from Samir Tamang and Armand Beadoum, while Padam Bhattarai scored another goal to complete the big win. Tamang scored in the 21st, 56th, and 85th minutes, while Beadoum found the net in the 27th, 50th, and 52nd minutes. Bhattarai added his goal in the 29th minute.
Church Boys had earlier defeated Nepal Police Club 1-0 in their first match, while RTC had won 4-1 against Rastriya Jagriti Club. But against Church Boys, the Bhutanese side struggled and could not make an impact.
Samir Tamang, who played an excellent game, was named Man of the Match and received a cash prize of NPR 10,000.
The second semifinal will be between NRT and UKFC India on Thursday, while the final will be held on February 8. The winner will receive NPR 1 million, while the runner-up will get NPR 500,000.
