A violent clash occurred between the Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal and a group of smugglers near the Nepal–India border in Dhanusha district, leaving six officers injured.
According to officials, the incident took place on Thursday evening around 7 PM at Baidehi Duhabi area of Bideha Municipality-2, near the border. Acting on a tip-off about smuggled goods being hidden in a mango orchard, a 30-member APF team was dispatched to the site.
As the security team arrived, they were attacked by a group of smugglers using homemade weapons, sticks, and stones. In response, the APF was forced to fire four rounds into the air and launch 13 rounds of tear gas to control the situation, said SP Nirmal Khadka of the Armed Police Force in Dhanusha.
All six injured officers are currently undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur. The smugglers managed to flee the scene during the confrontation, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend them.
Security has been tightened in the area following the incident, and authorities have reiterated their commitment to curb cross-border smuggling activities.
