BTS’s Jin delighted fans by joining Coldplay on stage at their concert in Seoul, marking his first live performance since his military discharge in June last year. This special appearance came just over two years after his last performance with the band in Argentina, prior to his military service.
During the concert, Jin made a memorable entrance, holding up a sign that read, “Pick me please. Can I sing The Astronaut with you?” Coldplay’s Chris Martin, upon reading the message, pointed at Jin and knelt down on stage in response. Jin mirrored Chris’s gesture, and the two performed a powerful rendition of “The Astronaut,” followed by “My Universe.”
The two shared a playful moment on stage, with Chris asking Jin his name. Jin introduced himself and proudly mentioned, “My team is BTS.” Chris, impressed, replied, “Oh, your team is BTS! I know them. And we are Coldplay, the second-best band in the world. BTS might be number one, I think!” To which Jin humorously responded, “Oh no! I don’t think so.”
Chris complimented Jin on his appearance, saying, “We missed you, man. You’ve been in the military, but you still look so handsome. Look at this beautiful man. Ok, my brother. Well… two years ago, or two and a half years.” Jin then reminisced, “We performed together 2 years ago, before I went to the military. Coldplay was my last performance, and now, it’s my first concert back.” Chris affectionately noted, “It’s all because of you that we have a relationship with BTS.”
Jin later took to Instagram to share photos from the concert, showing himself smiling and enjoying his time with Chris on stage. One of the captions read, “Sunny <3,” while another featured the duo bowing to each other with the playful caption, “Don’t you dare?” Coldplay also posted pictures and videos, expressing their gratitude: “Thank you, Jin, thank you, Seoul. These are moments we will never forget.”
The special moment between Jin and Coldplay came after the two bands collaborated for the first time in 2021 on the song “My Universe.” Jin also worked with the band on the track “The Astronaut,” solidifying the bond between the two musical acts. Coldplay, currently on their Music of the Spheres World Tour, will perform at the Goyang Stadium in Seoul on April 22, 24, and 25 before heading to the United States for their next concerts.
