Investigate Pokhara Balloon Explosion


An eight-member committee has been formed to investigate the balloon explosion incident at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Pokhara Visit Year 2025’ event. The committee was established on Sunday morning following a ministerial decision. It will be led by Kaskiโ€™s Chief District Officer, Bharatmani Pandey.

The committee includes Pokhara Metropolitan Cityโ€™s Chief Administrative Officer, Shivaraj Chaulagai, Kaski Police Chief Superintendent, Shyambabu Oliya, Armed Police Forceโ€™s Unit 24 Headquarters Chief, Superintendent Suryaprasad Timilsina, and National Investigation Departmentโ€™s Deputy Director, Suresh Kumar Tiwari. Additionally, Kaskiโ€™s Assistant Chief District Officer, Ganga Bahadur Chhetri, will serve as the member-secretary, and an explosives expert will also be part of the team.

The committee has been given 15 days to conduct a detailed investigation into how the balloon explosion occurred. They will also provide recommendations on precautionary measures for similar events in the future. The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the investigation began on Sunday.
