The Patan High Court has issued an interim order restricting the promotion and publicity of the upcoming movie Laaj Sharanam on social media and other media platforms.

The court’s decision came on Tuesday, during a hearing on a case related to former minister Mohammad Aftab Alam. The joint bench of Justices Lal Bahadur Kunwar and Hemant Rawal issued the order.

Why Was the Film Blocked?

Aftab Alam filed a petition claiming that the film used a character that closely resembled his face, clothing, body structure, hairstyle, expressions, and speech pattern without his permission.

He filed the case against the Film Development Board, demanding that the movie be stopped.

Court’s Ruling

The court stated that if a person’s constitutional and legal rights are violated, the Central Film Censorship Committee has the authority to block a film before granting approval under Section 8(3) of the relevant act.

As a result, the court issued an interim order preventing the movie’s advertisements, posts, and promotions on social media and other platforms. The order also directed the opposing parties to comply with this ruling.

Impact on the Film’s Release

Laaj Sharanam, produced by JPT Creation, was scheduled for release on Falgun 14 (Shivaratri). The producers were planning to release the trailer on Wednesday, but the court’s decision is expected to affect the film’s promotion and release plans.
