After dominating the football pitch and YouTube, Cristiano Ronaldo is now making moves in the movie industry. The Portuguese superstar has teamed up with British director Matthew Vaughn to launch a new independent film studio, UR-MARV.
A Dream Collaboration
The announcement was made through a joint statement:
“Cristiano Ronaldo loves movies; Matthew Vaughn loves sports – and they both have a good story. Both have been disruptive champions at their game and will now combine the world of sport and storytelling…”
Their goal? To blend sports and cinema in a new, exciting way.
Trilogy Already in Progress
UR-MARV aims to revolutionize filmmaking by mixing cutting-edge technology with classic storytelling. The studio has already completed two action-packed films, with the third currently in production. This marks the beginning of an ambitious action trilogy from the duo.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Excitement
Ronaldo shared his thoughts on the venture:
“This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business.”
With five Ballon d’Ors under his belt, the football icon now hopes to score big as a film producer too.
Vaughn on Ronaldo: A Real-Life Superhero
Matthew Vaughn, known for hits like Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, and Kingsman, praised Ronaldo:
“Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him – he’s a real-life superhero.”
Vaughn is currently directing two upcoming Kingsman films while expanding his creative reach with UR-MARV.
Ronaldo’s Film Background
This isn’t Ronaldo’s first brush with cinema. He starred in a 2015 biopic and a 2014 documentary, Cristiano Ronaldo: The World at His Feet, narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch. Now, he’s ready to step behind the scenes.
Still Scoring on the Pitch
While exploring film, Ronaldo continues to shine in football. He recently scored a brace for Al Nassr in their 3-1 victory over Al Hilal on April 4.
Cristiano Ronaldo is clearly not slowing down—whether it’s on the field or behind the camera.
