Cristiano Ronaldo Opens Up on 1000-Goal Talks & Future at Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear that he is not fixated on reaching the elusive 1000-goal milestone, despite being the only footballer to have surpassed 900 official goals. The Portuguese superstar has netted an impressive 923 goals in 1261 appearances throughout his illustrious career.

Throughout football’s 150-year history, only 24 players have managed to score 500 or more goals, and just four of them remain active—Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Luis Suárez, and Ronaldo himself. Fans worldwide are eager to see Ronaldo become the first player to hit the 1000-goal mark. However, the 39-year-old insists that discussions surrounding the feat have become somewhat overwhelming.

In a recent interview with El Chiringuito, Ronaldo expressed his thoughts, stating (via journalist Fabrizio Romano), “If I could achieve it, it would be great… but I’m not obsessed with it. It’s getting a bit annoying to talk about.”

Ronaldo’s Stellar Form at Al-Nassr

Since making the move to Saudi Arabia in December 2022, Ronaldo has continued to deliver exceptional performances. This season alone, he has recorded 23 goals and four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions for Al-Nassr. His impact extends beyond club football, as he remains the all-time leading scorer in men’s international football, with 135 goals in 216 games for Portugal.

Contract Status & Future with Al-Nassr

Ronaldo’s current contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire at the end of this season. However, reports from MARCA suggest that he has already agreed to a one-year extension, which will see him earn an astonishing €183 million for the additional season.

As part of his renewed commitment, Ronaldo has reportedly secured a 5% ownership stake in the club and has urged the Saudi side to build a stronger squad. Determined to claim the league title, he has influenced Al-Nassr’s recruitment strategy.

The club has wasted no time in responding, securing the signing of Colombian forward Jhon Durán from Aston Villa in a deal worth approximately £65 million. The 21-year-old, who has been in fine form with 12 goals in 29 appearances this season, was pursued by multiple European clubs before opting for a move to the Middle East.

With Ronaldo leading the charge and Al-Nassr reinforcing their squad, the next season could prove to be a defining one for both the player and his club.
