Texas Flood

At least 50 people have died in severe flooding caused by torrential rainfall in the U.S. state of Texas. The flooding particularly impacted Kerr County, where 43 bodies—28 adults and 15 children—were recovered from a summer camp.

Authorities are still searching for 27 missing girls, with rescue teams operating by air, land, and water along the swollen Guadalupe River, which rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has expanded the state’s disaster declaration and is seeking additional federal assistance. Vice President JD Vance described the disaster as an “unthinkable tragedy.”

Emergency services are warning residents to avoid flooded roadways and riverside camps. Videos circulating on social media show homes and trees being swept away by floodwaters, which in some areas measured up to 12 feet—nearly one-third of Kerr County’s average annual rainfall.

Officials say the situation remains critical, and search operations will continue until all missing persons are accounted for.
