Death Toll Rises to 34 in India Pharma Factory Blast

The death toll in a massive blast at a pharmaceutical factory in southern India’s Telangana state has reached 34, according to Indian media reports.

Blast in Sangareddy District Factory

The explosion occurred on Monday morning at a reactor unit of Sigachi Industries, located in the Pashamylaram industrial area of Sangareddy district.

The blast destroyed the factory building, and visuals from Indian media showed flames and heavy smoke at the site.

Victims and Injuries

  • 31 bodies were found at the scene.
  • 3 more people died during treatment in hospital.
  • Over 30 others were injured in the explosion.

Cause Under Investigation

Local authorities said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the blast.

Relief Announced

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial aid from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund:

  • INR 2 lakh for families of those who died
  • INR 50,000 for each injured person
